Despite using advanced technologies like the submarine robot Hugin 1000, the expedition did not find anything of the airplane. "We did not find anything, unfortunately", said a journalist who took part at the expedition, "the conclusion is that the plane wasn't in the area, that's 100 percent sure".

Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer of polar regions who led the first expedition to reach the South Pole in 1912. He was also the first person to reach both the North and South Poles, and the first to traverse the Northwest Passage.

When he disappeared, Roald Amundsen was flying on his Latham 47 with Norwegian pilot Leif Dietrichson, French pilot Rene Guilbaud, and three others Frenchmen.
